Artist’s Blog
You’ve heard of artists’ vlogs on YouTube. The videos you like to play in the background while you work on your crafts. Or maybe you attentively watch, mesmerized by the mundane tasks often romanticized, such as getting a coffee at the local cafe and sketching on a table. See, I’d do that too, but I’m too camera-shy.
For quite some time, I have had the intention to start a blog to document my journey as an independent artist. Although my writing skills are not my forte, for the past 8 years I have kept a journal where I write my thoughts, hopes, fears, dreams almost every day. It’s such a great practice that I wish to encourage others to start. This is one of the reasons writing Morning Pages, a practice taught in the book “The Artist’s Way” has been easy to follow for me. The challenge of completing the book, not so much.
It’s 2025 and this is my second year as a full-time independent freelance artist. One of my on going goals is to continue diversifying my income. Late last year, I started working on my art licensing portfolio. Earlier this year, I restarted my small business, CoquiRoki, where I sell my art online and at local markets. My plan is to share my journey with my small business. I’ve learned so much in this past few months and feel so excited to be doing what I’m doing. Maybe eventually I’ll learn how to add images to these to make them visually interesting. Thank you for taking the time to read this :-)
